Dehradun :Meeting of the Monitoring Committee of Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mr. Utpal Kumar Singh at Secretariat Auditorium on Friday. Chief Secretary instructed all the Executing institutions that proposed projects in the Eco-Sensitive zone that have been approved, all the details of these should be make available to the members of the monitoring committee, so that they can monitor the approved projects at their own level. And the projects where the work has to be done, these should be finalised through prescribed process.
Chief Secretary instructed the District Magistrate, Uttarkashi that he should inform the members about the selected site for solid waste management and if the location is not available for the disposal of waste, then proposal of various sites identified should be sent to the government. It was instructed by the Chief Secretary to make land selection for solid waste management and in accordance with the guidelines of the NGT and waste disposal be done with modern technology. Unanimously it was decided that if one land is not available for installation of waste management project in Uttarkashi city, then select Ward wise site for the possibility of small waste management projects in the urban areas, and with the coordination of local bodies, make sure the waste management by using state-of-the-art technology of solid waste management.
On this occasion, Co-President of Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone Monitoring Committee Hem Pandey, Member, Monitoring Committee Dr. Mahendra Singh Kunwar, Member Malika Bhanot, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Ranveer Singh, Secretary Forest and Environment Arvind Singh Hayanki, Wildlife Institute of India Scientist Dr. VP Uniyal, Chief Engineer Irrigation Mukesh Mohan, Forest Conservator PK Patro were present.
