Kochi: A major fire broke out at a footwear showroom and godown in Kerala’s Kochi on Wednesday.
At least 50 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze that engulfed the fourth floor of the six-storeyed building, according to news agency PTI. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.
The incident reportedly took place near the Ernakulam South railway station. The fire department officials evacuated people residing in nearby buildings.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
“No casualty has been reported as the employees of the godown moved out of the building as soon as the fire broke out. Now the blaze is under control…we are trying to douse it completely,” a fire department official said, adding that short circuit could be the cause of the blaze.
